Wigs and Stuff
I bought this granny wig for Marie Curie..it looks much better in real, though. ;)
I somehow like the picture, and will keep it. I guess it probably reminds me of carneval times when I was a child, subconsciously. I tested the makeup and dress, and they looked surprisingly beautiful. It is not going to be a historical Marie, but a beautiful one- just as the other figures are going to include influences I felt would be suitable. Joan was originally not intended to look somehow like a reference of Klimt's Pallas Athena..but then, as I had finished the golden fishscales, I came upon that picture..and decided it came close to how I now envisage it to be.
There is a possibility I remember that specific picture from strolls through the museum as a child..but then, I dont think so. Klimt took his influences from Greek and Roman war attire- and those usually included scale-like vests. As a child, I DID have a fascination with Greek and Roman lore- so this is where that reference most likely comes from.
I am also doing sketches for the structure of the psyche- if I had more money, I'd simply go and have it magnified and plotted out somewhere..but, as it is..I have to do it by hand. :/
